Sanford Elsass, President & CEO, brings 25 years of insurance and finance experience to assure that Uni-Ter clients get the most competitive products/services tailored specifically to their individual needs. In addition to his responsibilities as CEO of Uni-Ter, Sandy is a senior officer of The U.S. RE Group, Uni-Ter's parent company.
Mark S. Barwick, Director of Underwriting, Medical Malpractice Division, has twenty years of insurance experience including 13 years in Property and Casualty and 7 years in Professional Liability/Medical Malpractice. He has worked as a Manager in a Catastrophe Team environment, establishing, staffing and managing the claim operations at temporary catastrophe offices on a national basis. He also has a Medical Malpractice claims background where he successfully handled hospital run-off business and gained valuable Malpractice Underwriting experience while an Underwriting Manager.
Susan Bugg, Vice President of Risk Management, has over 22 years of practice as a nurse along with specialized experience in claims, risk analysis, medical malpractice and nuclear medicine technology. Her insurance experience also includes a Risk Claims Analyst for the St. Paul Fire and Marine/MMI Companies. As a nurse, she worked in medical intensive care, coronary/open heart, surgical and post-anesthesia care.
Dwain Chamberlain,Vice President of LTC Underwriting, has over 12 years experience in the healthcare malpractice insurance underwriting industry. He primarily focuses on underwriting and production of primary and excess medical malpractice business for healthcare organizations. He also has extensive knowledge handling large accounts in excess of self insured retentions (SIR's).
Donna Dalton, Chief Operating Officer & CFO. is responsible for Uni-Ter’s operating and financial management functions. She has an extensive background in the insurance industry, having worked with insurance and reinsurance companies, Risk Retention Groups, and brokers.
Tonya Dugan, Vice President of Medical Malpractice Underwriting, has over 13 years of experience in the insurance industry focusing on Professional Liability lines, such as Medical Malpractice, Errors & Omissions, Directors’ & Officers’, Employment Practice Liability, and Privacy Protection, as well as Commercial P&C lines, such as General Liability, Property & Inland Marine, Auto, Employers & Liability, Environmental and Fiduciary Liability. She is also a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors and Georgia Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
Lynda Knowles, Director of Underwriting has been in the business for 20 years. She has over 15years experience with St. Paul in the medical malpractice unit. She knows the needs of agents and operators and is devoted to underwriting standards that will give Uni-Ter agents stable markets year in and year out.
Sharon Lanier, Director of Underwriting, works with independent agents to help them build profitable books of business that meet underwriting guidelines. She analyzes risks to be sure that all bases are covered. With many years of experience in the health care field, she takes time to consider all factors that affect specialized risks, factors that less experienced underwriters might overlook.
Nadeene Wood-Clater, Senior Vice President of Marketing, bringing 29 years of insurance experience she instantly relates to the needs of producers and can communicate the competitive advantages of the Uni-Ter programs spending most of her time on the road representing Uni-Ter at industry conferences and building the agency force for our Risk Retention Groups.
Armando L. Vilches, a sales executive with 25 years of experience in property/casualty and professional liability insurance brings an international flair to Uni-Ter Group. In addition to his insurance experience, Armando is fluent in Spanish, allowing Uni-Ter to tap Hispanic markets. He is responsible for developing new business for J.M. Woodworth Risk Retention Group, Inc., Ponce de Leon LTC RRG, Inc. and Lewis & Clark LTC RRG, Inc. He holds the CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) designation.
Jonna Miller, Vice President of Claims, has spent her entire career handling medical malpractice claims. She was Litigation supervisor and Branch manager of Caronia Corporation in Atlanta before coming to Uni-Ter. Her specialty is physician and surgeon’s professional liability, but she is also experienced in handling claims
involving long term care facilities and hospitals. In addition to holding her adjuster’s license in multiple states, Jonna has an ARM designation and has served as an adjunct professor for the Insurance Institute of America, instructing others interested in obtaining this degree. She has taught classes in Risk Management, Risk Control and Risk Financing at Georgia State University.
